FarUV wavelengths completely eradicate single cell organisms, with less energy and with no photoreactivation, primarily by breaking down the proteins in the microbe’s outer membrane. Energy absorption by proteins is up to 45 times greater for FarUV than for older UV-C. Data indicates FarUV technology is capable of killing all bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It can address the most common illnesses such as common cold and flu as well as foodborne illnesses such as E.coli, Salmonella, and Listeria. FarUV also eradicates dangerous microorganisms such as Ebola, MERS, SARS, COVID, and all chemically and antibiotic resistant microbes (MRSA, C Diff).
FarUV is the first UV sanitation system that can be used to sanitize objects intended or required to be exposed to light after sanitation and the first to be safe for direct human exposure.
On a societal scale, the impact of the new technology will be profound. The New England Journal of Medicine as well as countless other research organizations have determined that COVID-19 can be spread via surfaces where the disease can remain up to 3 days and in the air where it can be found for as long as 3 hours after a cough or sneeze. The current alternative for sanitation in occupied spaces is consistent wiping of surfaces individuals come into contact with such as chairs and counters. However, this solution is risky due to human error of missing spots while wiping and does not address the threat of airborne viruses.
The use of FarUV can autonomously and continuously disinfect any known virus, bacteria or fungi in occupied spaces, which is essential for containing and mitigating the threat of the coronavirus and similar outbreaks.
Given the recent pandemic developments, going forward, vast majority of companies, schools, and government entities will have to implement long term disinfection routines and procedures in addition to their usual cleaning procedures.
Chemicals are still very prominent in disinfection applications today. FarUV disinfection does, however, provide many benefits over chemical options. It cannot be overdosed, and does not produce by-products, toxins, or volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. It does not require the storage of hazardous materials, and will not affect smell or taste of water and food. Two current primary methods are manual wipe-down of all surfaces on regular basis with germicidal chemicals or mist fumigation disinfection. Both require consumable products and a very substantial cost in additional labor.
FarUV offers 'Always On' continuous disinfection without any consumables or any additional labor, and yields better pathogen control results.
FarUV Integrated lighting works all day every day, applying germicidal light on all high touch surfaces and hard to clean surfaces, including tables, chairs, walls, carpets, and any piece of clothing or personal items brought into the room.
And crucially, it continuously disinfects the air in the room and kills pathogens suspended in airborne aerosoles, such as sneezes and coughs.
FarUV is the only light on the UV spectrum that has effective germicidal properties and is completely safe for occupied spaces, thus allowing disinfection technology to be combined with everyday LED lighting fixtures.
